Service Locations & Delivery Options:
Therapy services are offered in a variety of settings to best meet client needs. Availability may vary depending on service type and whether it’s clinically appropriate.
-
Therapy delivered in real-world community settings to support functional communication, independence, and meaningful carryover into daily life. Services are designed to help clients practice skills where they are naturally used, improving confidence and generalization beyond the therapy setting. Examples may include assisted living facilities, library meeting rooms, community centers, coffee shops, or assisting during everyday activities such as shopping or other community outings.
Clinical Considerations: Community-based services are provided when clinically appropriate and aligned with the client’s goals, safety needs, and comfort level. Privacy, informed consent, and professional boundaries are maintained at all times. Activities and locations are selected collaboratively, with attention to minimizing distractions, protecting confidentiality, and ensuring therapeutic benefit.
Why Community-Based Therapy?
Community-based therapy allows clients to practice communication, cognitive, and voice skills in the environments where they are actually used. Working in real-life settings can improve carryover, build confidence, and support independence by directly addressing everyday communication demands such as ordering items, participating in conversations, managing distractions, and navigating social interactions.
**Public Setting Disclaimer**
When services are provided in public or community locations, there may be limits to privacy, background noise, or environmental control. Community-based therapy is only offered when these factors are unlikely to interfere with therapeutic goals or client comfort. Clients retain the right to request a change in location or service format at any time.
-
Therapy provided within the client’s home environment when appropriate. In-home services may focus on functional communication, cognitive-communication skills, daily routines, swallowing safety, and caregiver training. Working in the home allows therapy to directly target real-life tasks such as following daily routines, managing medications, preparing meals, and communicating effectively with family or caregivers.
Benefits of In-Home Therapy: Providing therapy in the home supports meaningful carryover by addressing challenges as they naturally occur. Environmental supports and personalized resources can be created and implemented directly in the home, such as visual sequencing icons for daily tasks, written or visual swallowing and safety precautions, meal modification recommendations, and organization strategies. These tools are designed to integrate seamlessly into daily life, supporting independence, safety, and long-term success.
