Frequently Asked Questions
-
The speech therapy process begins with an intake and evaluation, followed by individualized therapy goal planning.
Before We Meet: You will complete an online intake form prior to your first appointment. This helps me understand relevant medical, communication, cognitive, voice, or swallowing history so I can prepare thoughtfully for our time together.
Evaluation: Evaluations typically last anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes. During this session, we will discuss goals, concerns, and daily challenges. Depending on the reason for referral, I may observe communication, voice use, cognitive skills, swallowing, or functional tasks. Together, we will develop individualized goals and determine appropriate next steps.
Speech Therapy Services: SLP session frequency and duration vary based on individual needs and goals. Sessions are commonly scheduled weekly or biweekly and typically last 45–60 minutes. Therapy is collaborative, functional, and focused on meaningful progress outside of sessions.

SLP therapy service location is selected from the following options:
In-home services - Wausau area only
Community-based locations such as assisted living facilities, library meeting rooms, coffee shops, or during community activities (e.g., shopping) - Wausau area only
Secure teletherapy for clients located anywhere in Wisconsin
Service location is determined collaboratively based on goals, privacy considerations, safety, and clinical appropriateness.

For clients who have a caregiver or support person, participation is encouraged whenever possible. Caregiver involvement supports carryover and helps integrate strategies into daily routines. When speech therapy occurs outside the home or via teletherapy, education and home programs are provided as appropriate.

At this time, Vivera SLP LLC operates as a private-pay practice. This allows us to focus 100% on providing individualized, high-quality therapy without insurance-related restrictions.
If you have insurance, we can provide a Superbill, which is a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company or your FSA/HSA for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement will depend on your policy’s Out-of-Network coverage, but many commercial insurance policies do offer reimbursement for Superbills. (If interested, Vivera SLP LLC will help verify this with insurance if needed!) In-network participation is pending and may be available in the future. If this changes, the website will be updated and an announcement will be made.
Private pay services offer several benefits, including:
No need to meet a deductible before starting therapy
No caps on the number of sessions or session length
No restrictions on therapy approach or service type
Transparent pricing with no surprise fees
In accordance with Wisconsin regulations, Medicaid clients cannot be charged privately. If you are eligible for Medicaid, we are unfortunately not able to provide services at this time. If this changes, the website will be updated and an announcement will be made.
A Good Faith Estimate of anticipated costs can be provided after discussing your needs.
-
Under the No Surprises Act (effective January 1, 2022), healthcare providers are required to provide a Good Faith Estimate to individuals who do not have insurance or who choose not to use insurance. This estimate outlines the expected cost of non-emergency services. You have the right to request this estimate prior to starting services.
-
Payments are processed through SimplePractice, which accepts major credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards. You can securely store your payment information online to make session payments easy and convenient. Checks and cash are also accepted during in-person sessions if preferred.
